It is more than one hundred years since H P Olivey published the first detailed history of North Curry.  Olivey's pioneering work remains a key source of reference, but recent research has added greatly to our knowledge of this ancient and very special place.

North Curry is fortunate that in Angela Dix there is a historian with the dedication and skill to retell the story of the manor and parish for the 21st century.  Drawing on a wide range of published and unpublished evidence, she provides a lively and authoritative account of North Curry from prehistory to modern times, and sets its development in a national context.  She has also gathered some excellent illustrations.

For anyone interested in the history of North Curry, and in the complex processes which went to the making of an important Somerset parish, this will be a book with many riches.  It deserves to be widely read and consulted.
